High School Diploma

High School Diploma Program Overview

The South Bay Adult School is pleased to provide a free Independent Study - High School Diploma program for adults who have previously earned at least 100 high school credits. Coursework is completed through the Acellus on-line curriculum which customizes lessons to the unique needs of each student. Pacing of each lesson is tailored to provide more content and practice time on concepts that are challenging for students and less time on concepts that students have mastered. Textbooks are not required and students are free to study at times that are convenient for them, day or night, wherever an internet connection is available.  Teachers provide direct instruction, topical workshops, and individualized student support.

Students are expected to study at least 15 hours per week online.  In addition, students will attend the High School Diploma Lab on-site at least two times per week to take exams, complete special lessons, and review their progress with our credentialed teachers. This is not an on-line only study program.

Attending a Zoom Information Webinar is the first step in the enrollment process where information about both the High School Diploma and GED Preparation programs will be presented.  You will have an opportunity to ask questions and learn about the next steps to register.  The Zoom Webinar may be viewed on a computer, laptop, notebook, or smart phone.  As a reminder, both programs require on-line studying and on-campus attendance.

To expedite the enrollment process, it is recommended that you obtain or order your official high school (and college if any) transcripts (keep them sealed) as soon as possible.  Transcript orders can take several weeks to be processed.  Contact your previously attended High School to request your official transcripts. Transcripts are NOT required for enrollment into the GED Preparation program.
