Dear South Bay Adult School Edison Preschool Parents,
I wanted to start off by saying that I hope that all of you are safe and together with your families during this extraordinary time. I know that everyone is confronting challenges that you may have never expected.
While we had very much hoped that your child would be returning to school, per the direction of the Governor Newsom, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Thurmond, the Los Angeles County Office of Education Superintendent Dr. Duardo and Dr. Steven Keller and Dr. Mike Mathews of the Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach Unified School Districts respectively, our campuses will remain closed to students for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. This is not how we wanted to school year to end, but we understand the vital importance this closure plays in the larger realm of public health. In line with this announcement, you will not be charged anything else for the rest of the school year.
Next week is Spring Break and while we realize that your children have been at home, I am asking that we give all of our SBFT teachers a break from the hard work that they have been doing to support not just the South Bay Family Tree, but other programs at the South Bay Adult School. Teachers will continue to send parents emails with at-home activities through the end of the school year. I also wanted to also let you know that I have been in touch with SBFT teachers about putting together a culminating activity for all the students to celebrate the end of the school year. We are not sure what that will look like yet, but we will be brainstorming out of the box ideas that conform with our current situation. If you have any suggestions, please let your teacher know.
If any new information comes to us, we will let you know. For now, please enjoy your time with your families next week, remember to continue hand washing and social distancing, and you will hear from teachers again the week of April 13th. Stay well.
