High School Diploma
Program Overview
South Bay Adult School offers a free Independent Study High School Diploma program for adults. Coursework is completed online through the Acellus online curriculum. No textbooks are required, and students can study anytime, anywhere with internet access. Teachers provide workshops and one-on-one support.
Students must study at least 5 hours per week online and attend the on-site Diploma Lab at least 3 hours a week to take exams, complete lessons, and meet with teachers. However, we recommend 15 hours of study for faster completion. Note: This is not an online-only program.
To enroll, please request your official high school (and college, if applicable) transcripts as soon as possible and keep them sealed. Transcript requests can take several weeks to process. Contact your former high school to order them. Transcripts are not required for GED Preparation enrollment.
Graduation
Students who complete 160 required credits can join the June graduation ceremony—friends and family are welcome to celebrate your success!
Enrollment Process
The first step to enroll is attending an in-person Information Session and taking the CASAS test the same day. You'll learn about the High School Diploma and GED Preparation programs and have a chance to ask questions. Both programs require online study and on-campus attendance.
